Thinking About a Switch to Nursing?
Today, increasing numbers of adults, with or without prior degrees, are choosing nursing as a second career. Many are drawn to nursing to satisfy unmet needs for meaningful work, while others are looking for a career that involves significant interaction with people. On a practical level, a nursing career is attractive because of the strong demand for nurses, robust salaries and limitless opportunities within the profession. Career changers must also consider that nursing school requires an aptitude for math and science, is physically and mentally demanding, and can be time consuming. Although there are some part-time nursing programs, many are full-time and are difficult to combine with full-time employment. For career changers with a prior degree, accelerated nursing programs acknowledge prior education and offer a fast-track to completion.
