Preparation for High School

Do you dream of college and a challenging, exciting career after high school?   Maybe you are considering registered nursing.  It might be for you if….

You like science and math classes--nurses use science and math knowledge every day!

You like helping people—this is what nurses do!

You enjoy working with technology and computers—nurses use both!

You want a challenging and well-paid job when you grow up—a nursing career provides this!

To become an RN you must attend college.   Careful planning of your high school classes will help you succeed later in college.  In order to care for patients, nurses need to understand human behavior and how the body works.  Nurses also need excellent written and spoken communication skills.  And, nurses use math and science every day.   Students planning a career in nursing should take strong “college prep” classes (see chart below), develop good study habits and time management skills.
